The Sacred Field
– A New Year's Diary Entry
Fred Burks

Jan. 1, 1998 on a very special, beautiful morning

The Sacred field. The Buddha field. The Christ field. The field where all of the saints, all of the holy people of all religions, all of those who have opened themselves fully to Spirit bring their energies together as one.

This wonderful field, this sacred field, this healing field is all present. It pervades all, just as God/Goddess/Spirit/Allah pervades all. From this field emanate the combined highest wishes and energies of all of those who have dedicated themselves fully to All That Is, all of those who have let go of their need for separateness and moved fully towards that place of pure love and being.

In this field lies eternal acceptance of all, exactly as it is, in each moment of existence, in this very moment. In this field lies a single, pervasive prayer for all who would open themselves to it, a prayer only for whatever is in the highest good of all, for whatever is in the highest good of All.

Last night in a wonderful holy temple not far from home, I received a blessing. I received an invitation to open to the Sacred field. Sitting in peaceful silence together with a number of beautiful souls immersed in meditation and devotion, I suddenly became aware–as if for the first time–of this most awesome, sacred field all around me.

I became aware on a very deep level that I am not alone, that on the deepest levels I have never been alone. So many times I have felt alone in my soul-felt desire to love all those around me as deeply as I can, and to spread the light of love and Spirit to any who might be open to it. So many times I felt really alone in this world.

But last night at the time of transition of the years, for the first time in this life, I understood. I felt deep within me that I am not alone, that in fact I have never been alone. The Sacred field has always been here, is always here, and will always be here. It is always here for anyone who opens themselves to guidance, for anyone who deeply and earnestly prays for what is best.

Last night I felt an invitation to in some way join this field, to allow my energies to merge with these sacred energies. I opened myself full of wonder and did merge. I received the blessing of the saints. I received the blessing of the holy people, the sacred souls of all time. My sincere, soul-felt desire for whatever is truly best, for whatever is in the highest good of all, merged with the desires and prayers of these fully realized beings. And I realized that I am not alone, that I never will be alone. I have only to open myself to this wonderful field of energy and it is there, it is here within me and without, beyond place and time.

I am truly blessed. We are all truly blessed. For the Sacred field is here for all of us always, wishing only for whatever is best for us for now and for all time and beyond time.

The Hidden Jewel

Author Unknown

Once upon a time there was a man who fell into a drunken sleep. His friend stayed by him as long as he could, but being compelled to go on, and fearing that the drunken man might be in want, the friend hid a jewel in the drunken man's garment. When the man recovered, not knowing that his friend had hidden a jewel in his garment, he wandered about many years in poverty and hunger. A long time afterwards the two men met again and the friend told the poor man about the jewel and advised him to look for it.

Like the drunken man of the story, so many of us wander about suffering in this life of birth and death, unconscious of what is hidden away in our inner nature, pure and untarnished--the priceless treasure of Divine Nature.
